The Space Between: A Panorama of Turkish Cinema 2012

mx 600In collaboration with the Moon and Stars Project of The American Turkish Society, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present 29 Turkish film selections under the banner of The Space Between: A Panorama of Turkish Cinema, starting on April 27 - May 10, 2012.

Beginning with the exploration of feature classics, award winners, blockbusters and much more, this year’s event is packed with renowned films from Turkey such as: 

  • Atıf Yılmaz’s O Beautiful Istanbul and The Girl With the Red Scarf
  • Memduh Ũn’s Three Friends
  • Metin Erksan’s Dry Summer
  • YılmazGüney’s Hope
  • Reha Erdem’s Kosmos 

Composed of a rich blend of numerous influences from European and American-based films with hints of Egyptian, Indian and Iranian cinema, Turkish cinema does not fail to illustrate its uniqueness through art and cultural experiences.  Some genres to be presented includes: classics, action, drama, comedy, blockbusters and many more.

A wide range of films will be screened from as long as the 1950s (black & white) to the most recent 2000s. To further enrich one’s encounter with this particular event there will be informative panel discussions as well as post-screening discussions with directors and film scholars.
