Samsung's New Smart TVs Wow Celebs & Techies

kateIn less than a week, Samsung continued to wow us with their state-of-the art electronics. First with the launch of their Galaxy IV at world-famous Radio City Music Hall in NYC on Mar. 14, and then on Mar. 20th with their 2013 suite of Home Entertainment systems. On hand were celebrities NY Giants quarterback Eli Manning, supermodel
Kate Upton and rapper Flo Rida.

Samsung Electronics continues to dominate on the global TV market for the eighth straight year. While other have seen their market share eroding and with significant drops in demand, Samsung continued to lead with revenues increasing 6% year on year in 2012 to give it a 27.7% share. That's more than the combined sales of Panasonic, Sharp and Sony.

Samsung has been aggressively focused on its pricier premium TV models in recent years to cushion the fallout from the global slowdown which has dampened demand for flatscreen TVs and aims to more than double its gap with other players in the premium segment going forward.

The ooh factor was felt in Samsung's latest (sixth) iteration of the Smart TV. The standard television aka "idiot box" is rendered archaic as the rotary telephone with Samsung's proprietary "Smart technology" with features such as web browsing and downloadable applications. The show stopper was Samsung F8000 Smart LED TV, the world’s first with a quad-core processor, resulting in faster internal processing speeds for smoother operations. Compared to previous Samsung 8000-series

flo

models, start-up, browsing, and switching among services are sped up to three times faster. Available in 40-inch to a whopping 75-inch, this premium, ultra-slim TV range offers a Full HD (1080p) resolution, Active 3D, and ‘Micro Dimming’ tech for increased contrast.

Featured highlights include:

  • SmartHub software; a five-panel content navigation system that allow you to seamlessly switch among on-air TV, stored photos, music and video, apps and social media. The feature will make users feel that they are using five TVs at one time with one TV set.
  • S-Recommendation, the voice recognition software that will come loaded with all Samsung 2013 TVs. It's like having a personal valet. With 300 voice commands with improved language recognition rates, it is now capable of understanding full sentences and natural language. New gestures are now also available allowing users to rotate images and zoom in and out of photos.

  • Advanced Smart Interaction technology which uses a camera and microphones built into the TV, to support Motion Control, Voice Control and Facial Recognition.

With so much going on, you'd better make sure your couch is comfortable because you may never get off with Samsung's SmartTV.
