TheShowt.com Shoutout

The backroom bar at the new Hell's Kitchen hotspot Industry was packed with the movers and shakers of Manhattan's altLBGT community on January 20th at a launch party for www.TheShowt.com, an upscale website described by its founders as "the new gay lifestyle guide for New Yorkers."

The site is available free of charge to all "sophisticated urbanites" following a painless and non-intrusive registration process.

The launch event was co-hosted by GLAAD and was billed as a benefit for that national media watchdog organization. Representing GLAAD at the event was Richard Ferraro, Director of Communications.

Also on hand was TheShowt co-founder Josh Siegel, a self-described "foodie," who was accompanied by his lovely fiancée.

TheShowt website and Monday/Thursday e-newsletters are designed to keep readers "in-the-know with cheeky advice and ahead of the curve tips," according to co-founder/editor-in-chief Ty Kuppig.

"Unlike other gay online publications that focus either on nightlife or hookups, TheShowt addresses every aspect of the polished lifestyle including aesthetics, design, entertainment, fashion, restaurants and travel," said Kuppig. "Think UrbanDaddy, but tailored to sophisticated gay New Yorkers."

Kuppig, 29, a Colin Farrell lookalike, is an architecture graduate of Columbia University with a successful background in film production and event planning.

Kuppig's confidence in the success of TheShowt's New York rollout was evidenced by his plans to expand the website to Los Angeles "in less than a year," and then to other US cities, including Boston, Chicago and Miami. He also mentioned Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro as possible international locations to be served by TheShowt "in the not too distant future."

In today's tight economy, when even the most affluent sophisticate is seeking the best value for his time and money, TheShowt serves a valuable purpose by helping to identify outstanding opportunities to travel, eat, shop and enjoy music and theater for those busy New Yorkers who also know how to enjoy the fruits of their success.

Best wishes to Ty, Josh, and their talented staff at TheShowt as they embark on what just might be the start of an international enterprise.
